The Boarders Lounge

Stone in the foundation dates this house  as  1827. It looks rough on the outside but has tremendous character on the inside. Right now we are cleaning and painting the inside. The heat system at the moment is a wood stove. We have exposed a fireplace as well that we will be restoring. Indoor plumbing does not exist at the moment so that is another item that will be added. Outside needs siding, windows and porch repair. Our goal for now is to get it clean and painted plus porch repairs so it can function as a gathering place and show office for Spring of 08. Once the barns and fencing are completed in section 2 we will come back to the old house and do the remaining work.

Neat old hardware!

Opened the room up

We removed the wall between the kitchen and living room and exposed the whole fireplace.

Fireplace

The wall was built in the middle of the fireplace and closed off the kitchen and living room.

The Bank Barn

We have cleaned out a good portion of the top part of the barn (oh my was it full of "junk"). We tore out the partitions for cow feeding in the lower side to clear a nice wide cement isle.

Back Side of Barn

The bottom of the barn that hangs out will actually be part of the protected small turnout areas for the four stalls on the outside of the barn. These four stalls will have windows as well as small turnouts.

Interior hallway before removal of cattle feeders

One of the stall before we began renovating

The cattle feeders are comming out!

Here is one of the hay mangers we are going to keep.

This stall will be expandable to a 10 x 20 for birthing and the manger will be kept.

Wall on the interior side

Hallway to the outside.

The thing I like most about this barn is how airy the stall area can be. Each side has large doors at each stall row as well as doors at the end of the center isle. In the summer due to its under ground design will be very cool as well as venilated. In the winter it can be as closed up as needed but well insulated under ground.
